Tobias Shares His Journey in Our Construction Department

After spending a decade working nationwide on pile foundations in specialist civil engineering, I joined ABO Energy (then ABO Wind) in 2011 as a construction manager. Initially, I managed projects in Baden-Württemberg/Bavaria, and later in the Hunsrück and Hesse regions. After about four years, I was promoted to team leader and officially became what I had already been informally for some: the go-to person, like a big brother by your side.

Around seven years ago, I became deputy head of the construction department, focusing on German projects (especially wind energy). I still work as a team leader to maintain a connection to practical work.

Every project presents different challenges, which makes our job so exciting. One highlight was definitely the development of a wind farm on a former lignite mining site, which had unique requirements for the foundation of each turbine. Planning and implementing large-scale infrastructure on sloped terrain is also consistently thrilling.

Working in a very pleasant environment with many friendly colleagues, exciting projects, and in a sector that still operates differently from the conventional construction industry. The principles of partnership and trust-based collaboration are still alive here, even though things have noticeably changed in recent years.

People who are passionate about renewable energy, strong communicators, and enjoy working independently. But they must also be true team players who embrace and live the values of ABO Energy and prioritize successful project implementation. For us, it's not just about what's on paper—it's also about the willingness to find solutions together.
