Learning & Development Manager in the Renewable Energy Sector

Laura Nehring

Laura Nehring is Learning & Development Manager at ABO Energy. Her goal is to foster a motivating learning culture that enables everyone to contribute to the company's success and adapt to the ever-changing business world.

What do you do at ABO Energy?

Together with a team of learning partners from different departments, I identify and meet cross-functional training needs. I aim to develop a strategic framework for learning and development that is closely linked to the organisation's values and competitive advantage. The framework is based on three pillars: Leadership Development, Core Skills Development and Learning Experience Journeys for specific roles.

What makes ABO Energy’s learning culture unique?

ABO Energy's history shows that continuous learning and the exchange of knowledge and new ideas are essential components of our company's success. Our goal of supporting the energy transition requires constant learning. We therefore welcome participation in trade fairs, conferences and seminars, both to strengthen our technical expertise and to enable efficient teamwork.

How does ABO Energy support
continuous learning and development for its employees?

Our culture is characterised by a hands-on mentality: we want to have a positive impact both internally and externally. We rely on the expertise and commitment of our people, which is possible because we enable continuous learning.

We have established learning partners for each department who, in addition to their day-to-day responsibilities, are attentive to the training needs of their teams and foster synergies with other departments to address these needs.

Additionally, we have internal project groups that work on various topics to drive our business forward. This collaboration allows our employees to develop and learn from the expertise, knowledge, and experience of their colleagues.

For internal knowledge sharing, we offer webinars on the intranet where employees can share their insights, experiences, or successes with colleagues. Participation is open to everyone in the company. Moreover, our team is very supportive; you can ask anyone for help and to share experiences. Informal knowledge sharing is also highly valued.

There is also the opportunity to contribute "lessons learnt" to project groups for continuous improvement. We view mistakes as learning opportunities to foster constant development.
