What are you studying and what is your role at ABO Energy?
I’m currently studying for a B.Sc. in Geography at JGU Mainz, and since August 2022 I’ve been working as a student assistant at ABO Energy in Heidesheim with the wind assessment team.
How did you experience your first months at ABO Energy – and how has your work developed since then?
The first month was very exciting. On the one hand, because of the wide range of tasks and new skills I learned through guidance and from other working students; on the other hand, I really appreciated the open and friendly office atmosphere.
Since then, a lot has changed. For example, I now regularly help and teach new working students. My range of tasks has also evolved and expanded over time. The great office atmosphere has become even more collegial, and there are always interesting professional discussions. In addition, I’m currently writing my bachelor’s thesis with ABO Energy.
How do you contribute to the energy transition?
Through my work, I support the wind assessment team in evaluating sites as accurately as possible, and I hope this helps me make a small contribution to the energy transition.
How do you work together as a team and what do you value most about your colleagues?
There are six working students in our team, most of whom also study Geography at JGU Mainz. I particularly value our good communication, as we often work on the same projects and rarely encounter problems. Outside of work, we’re also a great team – for example, motivating each other to train for the company run or spending time together socially.
Among the wind assessment colleagues and other departments at the Heidesheim site, I especially appreciate the good conversations over coffee or lunch and the close collaboration on wind assessments. Plus, there are some excellent hobby bakers among the team, which often sweetens the day!
